I like the look of it with the Merc wheels which is actually saying something seeing as. IMO, they closely
resemble the 95-97 XJR wheels of which I am not particularly fond of. The rest of the mods looks great, too!

Those wheels look AWESOME!

Funny enough these are one of the favorite sets I have seen on your X. Reminds me a lot of the wheels Arden puts on our cars.

Those Ardens are just OZ Operas. They came after the w140 S-Class wheels and the S-Class wheels are essentially an interpretation of the AMG Monoblocks that came before them. There were also a ton of copycat Japanese wheels from Weds and others in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

I wanted to get X308 Celtic alloys, but after making some drawings I decided against it...

Celtic specs:
Size: 17"x8"
PCD: 5x120
Bore: 73.9mm
ET: 33mm

With 33 ET, the inner side of a 8" wheel would be pretty much exactly in line with the stock 6.5" ET 52.5 wheel, and the extra width would make it quite "flush" on the outside. However, as it's PCD 5x120 while the X-Type is 5x108, even a 20mm thick adapter would push it outwards ridiculously. I guess there's no practical way around that.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I need to know something....

I understand from a thread on "Volvospeed" that these have been fitted using pcd variation lug nuts.

IIRC bolt holes on merc wheels have a radius seat, as most pcd nuts/bolts have tapered seat.....how did you overcome this ?

Thanks

So that's tapered seat on the wheels & tapered seat on the pcd nuts.

Cheers !

Love that look..I actually sold a set of those which had been lying in my garage for years,of an old 2001 320 clk I used to own...wish I had not now... didn't know they would fit...I could have got them refurbed as I am thinking of changing my Cayman Jaguar wheels.
Nice 1! I think they are pretty classy looking but I would lose the center caps maybe.
Just my opinion...lol!..
