Default 17x8 Wheels with 40ET ok?

I've already gone through the FAQ, so don't jump on me. There is no definitive "here is the ET value needed" answer.

So my question: Will a 17x8 Wheel with 5x108 pattern and ET40 fit my jaguar x-type 3.0. Fitted with 225/45/17 tires?

Thanks!

Why keep asking similar questions?

All the questions you are asking can be found in the FAQ.

The last post you made asked a question and I posted a link from my research 2 weeks ago after reading through the FAQ...it has all the information you need, including the question you are asking right now.

If you ask for help, read the help that is given to you instead of asking the same question over and over.

Here is my thread from starting my rim search... https://www.jaguarforums.com/m_84773/tm.htm

What rim did you find that has a 40 ET?

Thanks Stealth for your wonderful and very helpful response. I would not have wasted my time posting again had the links you sent had a definitive answer as I asked in my new post. From your FAQ links, I'm sure somewhere in there lies the correct answer. However, since there are so many other answers such as:

+45 or more
45-48 I think
+40 +/- 3
somewhere around 40mm
anywhere from +38 to +45 for 17" wheels

I just wasn't looking for an "I think" answer or "somewhere around". If you're an expert, instead of typing a couple of paragraphs detailing where I can find the answer...next time a simple "40ET is fine" answer would be appreciated.

I'm not in this forum for fun, I'm here out of necessity as the jaguar x-type unfortunately lives up to it's ranking onTime Magazine's worst 50 cars of all time. Thanks so much for your "help".

The biggest problem I have found is the bore size of the rim, but I guess that can be replaced with hub-centric rings.

I have actually written a letter to Jaguar regarding the quality of the rims. As I mentioned before, I have had 4 rims bend and crack. I called a few dealers to see if anyone would replace them under warranty, but they all said they wouldn't bend or crack without some sort of impact, which I don't disagree with, but I feel it is a poor quality rim that should not be sold on the vehicle...find another manufacturer. The one service man I spoke with mentioned that he has easily replaced over 100 rims this season. To me, that is an issue.

So in the 45 months I have owned the car, all 4 wheels have bent and cracked...so I guess they average a 11 month life expectancy.

I just purchased 4 Momo Winter wheels this evening from DiscountTire for $118 a wheel. Total bill was $676, which included 4 wheels, lugs, valve stems, mounting and balancing of my 4 tires, and a brand new Pirelli P-Zero Rosso for $50 to place as a full size spare...not to bad in my opinion.

Good luck and let us know what you get. I chose these wheels because they were built for winter, but look nice enough to run in the summer. I didn't want to get anything chrome or machined or anything with a machined lip due to the harsh winters we have here.

I will post pictures once the rims come in and are placed on the vehicle.
