I'm interested in purchasing a 1994 Jaguar XJ6 from a private party but there is one issue that gives me pause. The current owner says that the car gets stuck in "ice mode" when you first start the car and lasts for about 10-15min or until the car seems to warm up. This "ice mode" keeps the car in second gear, so acceleration is slow and the top speed is hindered as well. He said that the dashboard was recently replaced and so there have been sporadic electrical issues relating to that and he thinks that might be the cause. Is this a known issue? Is it a bad solenoid or something easy that needs to be replaced? Or is this a bigger issue that could end up costing me a lot of money in the end.
