Possibly the battery has given up. Did you notice any odour when the smoke appeared?

The starter was turning over very slowly then started the first time, went to start it again then nothing but a little smoke couldn't see where the smoke was coming from. No fault codes comes up on my cheap odb diagnostic tester.
