Wow I imagined to type that all in exactly the allotted space for a title.
Anyway hello I have a 2004 Jaguar X-Type.
Two problems, the cigarette lighter does not work, either for the ligher or for chargers for ipods or my Garmin GPS.
Fuse blown? I found a penny lodged in there earlier this year.
Second, the remote entry is quirky but for some reason it's REALLY quirky lately. See I'll get out of the car and press lock on the key/remote lock and it won't work, so I"ll have to either manually lock it or turn the ignition on and off and then it will work. It's been doing this a LOT lately.
Make it three problems, I was on the highway for the first time last night and as I was approaching 65 it started to shake, like especially the steering wheel.

my blue friend, glad to see the lighter was an easy fuse fix. That's taken care of.
Your other problems will be best explored by separating your issues and I suggest, posting up new threads on each issue. Give examples, symptoms, as clear and as detailed as you can so others can help you w/o mudding the thread w/ multiple issues. know what I mean?
For instance, based on the limited information above, i'd say (1) need a new battery on your key fob and (2) you've got a wheel out of balance, or if severe, a damaged rim from a pothole most likely or curb encounter. Either may or may not be your root cause, but off the cuff those are my observations. More information from you may change those...but only you can give it to us.
Also, if you have time, it is tradition that new members go to the new member area and introduce themselves and their car. Good luck.

Yeah I can tell you for sure I've hit a curb or gone over a curb a little too much. Definitely a possibility.
Is it dangerous to drive like that?
Any estimates on how much it might be to fix? a balance at the minimum..

I would just shell out $150.00 to buy a reader that specific for Jaguar. I have the icarsoft i930 and it paid for itself many times over the year with all the detected priority Jaguar code for ABS, Airbag, Transmission, AC system, and Air suspension. I currently own three low miles X-300, S-Type, and X358. I930 works on all three Jaguars.

With reference to your key fob problem. If you look at the keyhole on the steering column, you will see a small metal shutter that is displaced when you insert the key. It is spring loaded and retracts when the key is withdrawn. If it is sometimes stuck in the open position, it will disable the remote control function.
99.4% Sure this is your problem. Easy to check.
Try a very small amount of oil or some dry film lubricant. Obviously, don't spray oil in there, because of electrical connections.
