Default 2002 Transponder programming - all keys lost

Hello,

I was daft enough to lose my one and only key whilst out cycling the other day. I managed to get a new key cut and five blank ID60 transponders ready for programming.

I'm considering buying a JLR Mongoose clone, but would I need at least one activated key before this would work? There's so much conflicting information on the Internet, so I'm not sure what will get me out of this hole if I'm honest!

There are a number of JLR clones too, but the newer JLR Mangoose SDD V139, which is cheap doesn't appear to support pre 2005 cars?

I don't really want to take it to a main dealer as I know how much they charge, so I'd just like to know if there are any other options.

I'd be very grateful for any advice.

Many thanks,
David
