Default 2002 X Type Rear Shocks

Thumping in rear over bumps at slow speeds, the ride itself is smooth and over bumps at higher speeds it not noticeable.

Do I need to remove the rear seat to get to the top of the rear shocks?

No you do not. All you need is a deep well 10mm socket and a 6" extension. You can access the 2 bolts on each shock by sliding up the side of the shock once you have the tire removed.
