Default 2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.5L - Throttle Body & Subframe Component

While driving through a residential area, my cat made a 'putt' sound, the engine sounded sluggish, and I was unable to accelerate. So, to avoid breaking down in the middle of the road, I managed to coast the cat past a stop sign into a parking spot. Whew! I hate it when that happens!

Prior to shutting off the engine, I noticed that the ENGINE and TRANSMISSION LIGHTS were turned-on. Also, the words ENGINE and TRANSMISSION and the codes P1111 and P0121, intermittently flashed on-and-off on the dashboard. -Auto shop manager stated that the throttle body is responsible for the problem.

Question:
Does the throttle body malfunction also contribute to a 'Failed Emissions Inspection' where vehicle was emitting more than allowable emissions standards? CarFax indicated the failed emissions problem.

In addition, the auto shop manager stated that the subframe component is torn loose. (huh)

Questions:
What type of subframe component does my 03X2.5 cat have? a simple "axle" type? or a perimeter frame?
What could cause a subframe component to get "torn loose?" CarFax indicated no accidents.

Hi Norma,
Hopefully your garage is making it seem worse than it is, however I am not up to date with that techno stuff, they have mentioned. As with a lot of garages, I am under the impression that they like to baffle us with new inventive words that do not reflect your own view of the car parts and likewise confuse mine as well.
The view given indicates woe, but it may not be that serious, guys like Thermo (Chris) are usually absolutely spot-on with helping and advising on these matters!
I can't help, but my advice would be to hold on and get the right info before letting these guys loose on YOUR CAR!
Good Luck and if you have the time, keep us posted?
This is a post on fault codes, I hope this helps?

Good Luck! Plus, the component mentioned may be a small part, it may need a look under the car, have you hit or drove over something recently?

Hi again Norma,
I wouldn't stress too much as I see the P1111 is a readiness code after the vehicle has run the the ECU test.
P0121 is the code for possible throttle body issues!
Keep Smiling! And if in doubt, pm Thermo, I am sure he'll be happy to help, his advice is sound and he's a lot more in the know in "Hands-on" advice, Again, Good luck!
