There isn't a thread dedicated to turbos, but there are many threads discussing how to upgrade the X-Type to get more HP. Turbos/superchargers are discussed in those threads.

And unfortunately, the X-Type isn't very mod friendly, for multiple reasons. If you feel brave enough to try it anyway, good luck and let us know how it goes for you :-)

By the way, I'm guessing you mean you have a 2.0 Diesel? I've never heard of a 2.0 Gasoline. Unless that was a typo and you really meant 3.0 Gasoline.

I was referring to the X-Type, not just any car. Or are you saying that your friends's parents have a 2.2L Gasoline X-Type?

I had no idea there was a 2.0L version of the X-Type. I knew about the FWD version, although I had never actually seen one, but I had no idea it was using a 2.0L V6 engine. Speaking of which, you'd expect a 2.0L Gasoline engine to be 4 cynlinders, not 6. That's one small V6!

As for the transfer case being a weak link, if that X-Type is indeed FWD, I'd guess that there is no transfer case to be worried with in the first place?

yeah, i'd like to have a turbo, but rather not risk it with the transfer case

You may have different results than us because obviously your FWD powertain has to be different than ours.

But for the AWD version, it has been said repeatedly that there is :

1. not enough room under the hood, so you'll have to relocate some components in the trunk like racerx did
2. too much risk to break the weak powertain
3. not enough info for DIYers, and pretty much no third-party components to help because of the X-Type's lack of popularity ; in other words, you're pretty much on your own

I know nothing about the FWD version and the 2.0L engine, but perhaps in your case to get more HP you could replace the engine with the 2.5L, or even better the 3.0L?

Man, I would love to see pictures of that blown X. Disco, if you ever run into that guy again you have to get pictures. From your description he must be running it rear wheel drive now. That must have been one motivated X fan! Although that sounds really cool to do I think it would be even better if someone would do those sorts of mods and keep the awd. I always wondered what that would take. Like someone taking an Audi S4 drive train and shoehorning it into the X. Can only imagine what that would involve if it would even be feasible. Way above any level expertise/money/motivation I would ever have, but would love to live vicariously through someone that would do that. I would volunteer mine to Overhaulin' for something like that!

yeah the exhaust on these cars is really resrictive, and borla offeres a kit for these cars, it sounds relly good too. O yeah, it was rear whel drive, and man, when that thing pulled up it made the nizest sound oever, it sounded like a v12, And he said he still had the stock exhaust on it ( or parts of it), it probally took him a while, he said the police don't like it ethier, he always get complaints of niose and muffler sounds. But yeah if i see him again ill get some pics. I would love to do that to my car, but i barley now how to do some regular stuff.

but the only defrint between the 2.5+3.5 & ur car(2.0) is in the rear bumber there is two curvs for the two exaust
but in ur car it's hidden.

(sorry for the bad speling my inglish is not that good )
