Default 2003 X type stereo

I have a 2003 X type with nav. and CD changer. I keep having issues. My original changer would play fine for awhile, then it would cut off and go to radio. Pushing the "CD" button on console gets me a "CDC Error" message. I eject the CD cartridge and re-install and it will work fine again, for awhile, then do the same thing. I replaced with Jaguar CD changer but didnt have it coded, and when I installed it all but one speaker went out. The speakers do work, but dont give any volume, very muffled.

I took changer to dealer to be coded and it worked fine for about two hours, but now this one is doing exactly the same as the original one. (Hard to believe two changers would have exactly the same problems)

However, the speakers still are not working properly. Dealer says speakers are blown because USA model Jags dont have security codes on stereos. I cant figure out why simply changing the CD changer could blow the speakers. And why blow just 3 not all 4? I am totally at a loss as to what is going on.
Everything else works fine...Navigation, radio, cassette player, etc.

Hello jrm1111,

Sounds like you have a radio or wiring problem if two changers showed the same problem. I have not seen a similar problem with mine as of yet.

Regarding your speakers, mine had 3 out of 4 blown when I got it, the car has the Alpine system and the speakers are junk. I used the remaining good speaker to check the rest of the wiring and called Crutchfield for a new set of 4.

What dealership did you go to?

I am in MD also if you need any help.

Thanks for the help. I have been going to Annapolis Jaguar for service. I was going to do the same as you - use the good speaker to check the wiring - but I can't figure out exactly how to get the door panels off. I'm not happy that my speakers are probably blown, but then at least it's not a bigger issue. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to post them. Thanks again for your help
