Default 2003 XJ8 inertia switch

I have a 2003 Jaguar XJ8. I try to start car and nothing happens, it has power tho. When you turn the key it does nothing at all. I also cannot shift it out of park. This lead me to check the inertia switch, which was tripped, I reset and I still have the same problem. I checked all the fuses throughout the entire car and all are good. I have even connected to an OEM scan tool and found these codes B1202, B1317, B1238, U1041, B1595, Plus a few others. What's your advice to my next steps?

Welcome to the forum Geoff,

A 2003 XJ8 could be either a late steel bodied X308 or an early aluminium bodied X350 as both models were produced in that year. If you confirm which it is, I'll move your question to the appropriate tech section.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Welcome also..But if you want answers from those that are familiar with XJ8's...it would be best to post the questions on that subject model topic forum...
XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

They or those type of XJ owners will unlikely read your XJ8 questions on the X-Type topic forum..

Question is, why did it trip?.

As you have reset it, check it with a meter to ensure you have continuity through it.

Disconnect the battery and give a full charge. At the same time, this will allow the car to reset itself.

When the battery is fully charged, reconnect and try again.
