Default Average fuel economy.

My 03 2.5 x type with 89k averages about 16 around town and 25 on the highway. I do use premium gas. Shouldn't it be getting better then that?

fueleconomy.gov's listing for your car is 17/24, so it sounds like you are getting right around the ballpark, especially considering the miles on the clock.

Compare Side-by-Side

Don't forget, answers to this thread from the UK will appear higher, because the Imperial gallon is 25% bigger than the US gallon. It's ok though, because their prices are considerable more than 25% higher per gallon!

I also have an 03 2.5 X, 107K, Premium fuel, I do mostly short stop/start during the week, which keeps the average around 21/22, then a couple of hour long freeway trips at the weekends, which brings it up to around 24. That is, when the confounded Check Engine Light behaves!

shotime, that is about what most of us are getting. Some would love to get even 23.

So I guess 30 on the highway is out of the question.

shotime, I have gotten 30+ mpg a few times with my car. It has been as of late that this has happened as I have found that the rear brakes were dragging slightly on my car. Also, if you can find a gas station that sells pure gas, not the 10% ethanol blend stuff. Then you also drive at about 70 mph. I also find that by keeping the cruise off, the mileage will also go up slightly. Not sure why. I think a lot of that gain is from the fact that I tend to ease up a little going down a hill so my car picks up a little bit of speed and then I let that gained speed slowly fade away as I go up the hill.

Default About The Same

On the highway, I average 30 MPG. In the winter, around town, much lower. But then again, we all have plenty of money to spend on our cats!

Thumbs up

Since we bought ours in 2007 it get's a consistent 30 highway and 18 - 21 city. I always use cruise when conditions permit on the highway and have always used ethanol premium.

Default Mileage...

Since I have the air on all the time down here (except December> February), I've been getting about 21 in town and 28 (at about 70mph) on the Interstate. I did notice it tick up a little bit when I had the Mina exhaust installed.
