Default 2004 2LTR Xtype Stuttering

Hello I am new and have owned an Xtype for the past 3 years, lately I have had some issues come up that I need help with. I have just replaced the spark plugs and will be replacing the air filter as soon as one comes in. The car is idling rough when cold and is making a popping noise and if you cover the air intake you can feel a blow back when it makes this noise. Also when you first start driving and you have too sit at lights for a couple of min, when you drive off again it will not go past 2500 revs and missies badly. In a couple of minutes it will clear and start to accelerate smoothly again.
Thanks for any help

Hi Jeffre and welcome to the forum.
Assuming ithas beenserviced at least as per the schedule and the air filter doesnt fix, have a look at this as it only takes a minute and common fault according to dealer.
Remove the 3 screws holding the engine plastic cover on, remove it and check this pipe....many split and a sturdier one is £5 from the dealer...

If that doesnt sort it maybe need to get codes read to pinpoint problem?

..in the meantime you can tape around the pipe with strong tape until you get a new one which will allow to run OK.
If there isan engine light on the dash this should go out after around 3 cold-hot start cycles.

I've not had this problem myself .... but its great that members like Buck are around as it seems to me a sort of service item that is likely to go... and its worth noting these things.

Hi

I have contacted my dealer on the Gold Coast Australia and they want $115 for the £5 part, can you suggest an on on line parts supplier I could use as all parts sold here seem to be rather more expensive than overseas. Also I could not read the part no properly could you please clarify so I order the correct part. The split is just below the pipe in the diagram in a larger rubber hose that this pipe connects to.

Regards

Jeffre

The pipe shown in the diagram is the inlet manifold-rocker cover breather pipe
The part number is C2S40863
It cost £4.37 + vat (now 15%) over here (UK) in Aug
