I haven't used the high beams in my car in over a year (we don't have much need in Phoenix). I tried them recently and the indicator shows up on the instrument panel but the high beams do not work, I've tried new bulbs. I also checked fuses F1 and F4 which are listed as the Main Beam Right and Left for the 2004 and later X-Types.

I am planning to check the bulb receptacle tonight to see if it is getting appropriate voltage or not. Anything else I should be checking as well? Any relays that might cause both main beams not to work? I don't have fog lights connected/working right now as one was busted by a rock before I bought the car and I haven't needed those either! (No fog in Phoenix).

 

Ah well, gotta laugh. The metal ground shield that goes around the H1 bulb socket wasn't making contact with the bulb on either side. Pinched the metal tangs together to fit snugly on the bulbs and all is good!
