Default 2004 vs 2005+ TPS and throttle body

Hello all-

just wondering how much better the 2005+ TPS 's are vs the earlier version. I had unpleasant limp mode problems in my totaled 04 that eventually led me to buy a new throttle body with TPS- which solved the problems- but sadly that car is no more and the 04 throttle body won't fit in my 05. I am tempted to just buy a new throttle body and stick it in the 05, but I can't seem to find many topics where the later TPS model has failed. Plus, if I don't buy a TPS I can get Alpine double din with Apple CarPlay instead.

Anyone got any feedback on this? Are the 2005+ TPS as notorious for failure as the earlier version ?

All I can tell you is my own experience. I had a 2005 and when I traded it in it had over 160K on it and never a problem with the throttle position sensor or throttle body. Just my two cents, but it seems kind of extreme to just change that out if you aren't experiencing any problems. I can see your thinking on trying to be pro-active, but that is a good amount of money to spend on something that might never be an issue. I would go for the sound system and roll the dice on this one. Good luck with your new ride when it comes.

Start with an OBD tool with live data such as an elm327 and check sensors for plausibility then fuel trims. If all OK then leave TPS etc alone.
