Default 2004 X-Type Rear Axle Assembly.

Need to replace both rear axles and wondering if anyone knows a source for re-manufactured units. I can find front axles but no rears.

New ones are really pricey. While nice to work with NEW, the price is prohibitive at this point.

I can find both units at local junkyards where I can at least check them out before purchase. Tough to know where they've been or how long they'll last though.

Re-manufactured seems the way to go both pricewise and as far as service.

Anyone know if anyone is selling these? I checked Cardone and King with no success.

Thanks!!! Dave

Duncan, not sure what you are thinking of as being "prohibitively expensive", but here is a listing for 2 new rear axles (re-manufactured) for $220 delivered to your house. That is about as good as you are going to get for new components.

Thermo,

You are the man! That's exactly what I needed.

By 'new' in the original post I guess I meant BRAND NEW. Those are out there from $600-&1200 each. That's what I meant by prohibitive. At least to me. Boneyards show them from $40 to 80.00. Never know what you're going to get there...

Have seen the rebuilt front axles all day but no rears until these. This is great and no core charge either. Needless to say, I've already ordered them and pretty psyched.

Thanks Again!

Dave

Duncan, when in doubt, E-bay out. LMAO. Sometimes you can find some very interesting things on e-bay. Besides, it will atleast give you an idea of what people are asking for things and possibly a few part numbers too. That can make finding alternative locations to buy parts easier.
