Post 2004 X-type trunk unlocks when start car

Trunk is locked when get in car, when I start it it unlocks and the door open light comes on. I can get out and close it and it will stay locked until I start the car again. Any ideas?

piacas, from what I can tell, the problem is internal to the GEM module. There is no commonality between the two unless you have damaged wiring inside the dash and it just so happens that there is a short between the starter control wire and the trunk release wire.

When you say it is locked and then get in and start it and it unlocks, so you men it actually pops open or just that the message comes up that says "trunk open" or "boot open" or something like that and the trunk itself is actually still shut? If that is the case it might just be the trunk latch needs a little adjusting so that the sensor is not activated. If it actually pops open electronically by itself then that is a lot more involved and not something I can say I have ever heard of talked about on here until now.
