New here and have cannot BELIEVE the amount of resources and information on here. I would've never sold my 04 x-type.

Question is...

Recently purchased a set of 18x8.5 2010 Jaguar XF wheels model CYGNUS and was wondering if this is a complete bolt on?

I've read the offset, lug pattern, etc are the same but should it fit fine?

Maybe someone here knows alittle more than I do, when it comes to this

Ricky, if the offset is the same, then you should have no problems. One member just tried on the 19" XF wheels on his car and could ride around with them. You may find that the outside edge is going to be a little close to the edge of the wheel well, but that is going to be about it. Now, this is assuming you have a proper sidewall height too.

 

I have stock ride height (for now)..

I was thinking about lowering it with maybe some eibach's just to give it that stance..

I used to have an 04 3.0 with 20"s... I destroyed the fenders..

Hopefully I'll be safe with this set up.

Just kidding. Thermo, actually had the opposite concern. These wheels are too far in with an offset of 49mm and a somewhat wide 8.5" width. You need 5mm spacers in front to not rub the inner fenders at full steering crank. The rear is fine without spacing. In the photos above, I have 20mm front an 25mm rear spacers installed to push them out closer to the fenders.

If you tore your fenders up with 20s, then you either had the wrong tire, wrong offset, or did not roll your fenders. A 225/30/20 is within 2/10s of an inch the factory dimensions of the 18" wheels that come on these cars.

To answer your question, yes you can run these. Easy. Just get 5mm spacers for at least the front and put nothing bigger than 225/40/18 on them for tires. I know the 235 or 245 will be tempting for you and the tire guy selling you tires (especially if he owns a Ford truck, Mustang or similar vehicle) and you'll think your car will handle better with them or whatever, but don't do it. 225/40/18 - trust me.

Also when you go to bolt on your wheels with spacers, you'll be thinking "boy, I don't know if there is enough thread on the studs here?" Well, there is. You need 7 full turns and you'll get between 7 and 8 with 5mm spacers between the Cygnus and your brake rotors. Just be sure to get reputable spacers from H&R or have the guys at www.motorsport-tech.com make you a set (specs 5mm, PCD 5x108, center bore 63.4mm).

You'll also be able to slam your car as low as you want with the small 5mm spacers. Even with air ride fully aired out (lowered about 4+ inches compared to stock) my car didn't rub with these. Go as low as you want.

I bought the rims. They are 18" x 8.5 and look AMAZING. Tires are Falken 225/40/18 and lowering springs are H&R.

I CANNOT wait to slam it and slap the wheels on. I'll post up the pics when I do.

I have a question and need answerssss. I'm looking to space the wheel out. Kind of how EXEXPAT has it but I don't want it rubbing on fender which looks like he doesn't rub. How safe am I in mm? 15 or 20? I have the cygnus xf wheels. I want almost a flush look. Also would I have to trim down the lugs?

Given your tires, you should be safe with a 20mm spacer in front and back. It won't be completely flush, but it will be close enough. If it does rub (which I doubt since H&R springs won't lower you too much), then you may need to roll the rear fenders ever so slightly at the rear of the arch where it meets the back bumper.

Spacers will need to be custom-ordered from motorsport-tech.com and you will not need to modify lugs. You actually need to use your factory lugs with those wheels. Have them send you low profile lug nuts to attach the spacers to the car and wheels attach to the spacers (10 lugs total per corner - 5 to attach spacer and 5 factory to attach wheel to spacer).

I think I read somewhere you told another member about cutting the front coil half where it doesn't pig tail? Would that lower it alittle bit more?

 

Yes. You need to be careful when cutting springs with pigtails since they won't fit if you do it wrong. I think the standard height for Eibach/H&R makes the front a tad too high. The rear sits perfect and the car is level, but the fender gap in front made me wish for at least another 1/2" lower with springs. Half a coil might give you half an inch, maybe 3/8, but an improvement overall - even though it doesn't sound like much, it is a mile in lowering terms.

It's done. I just purchased a 20mm spacer from motorsport-tech. When I receive it, I am slammin it, putting on the wheels, and taking pics. I really hope it doesn't rub. I will also be cutting half a coil to lower the front too for an even slam. Do they sell camber kits for the wear? or is 2" not much to worry about?

 

Awesome, looking forward to pics. The spacers will be there in about 2 weeks (probably) and you should be able to get springs in the same or less time. Shoot for end of February to get everything done.

The Jag is getting the Wheels (2010 XF 18" with 225/45/18), slamming it with H&R springs (cutting half the first coil to level the drop), and still waiting for the 20mm spacer adapters. However I'm gonna post pics when its done.

In regards to tire wear,

Should I get an alignment? I read somewhere to also get the TOE adjusted since there is not camber in the x-type?

Should I be ok with less than 2" in the front and 1.5" in the back?

Yes, you will need an alignment once it is lowered. Edit: why did you go for such huge tires? That will raise the car another almost half an inch. Should have gone for 225/40/18 (stock size) or smaller.

Here are the pics.... It sits perfect. I wish it could go lower, but this is the safest drop (driveways, entering shopping centers, speed bumps).

Car rides excellent even with the front half coil being cut.

1 step ahead of ya, I bought it off ebay.. but like the MINA one more.. I might black out all the chrome and side lights...

 

I'll see you're chin spoiler acquisition and raise you a headlight restoration kit (or what I use - the Meguiar's PowerBall with Meg's PlastX polish).

Its actually the headlight from the inside. I bought some $20 blue headlights off ebay and they burnt out in 24 hours!

Now I put the regular ones back and they don't work, not sure what I fried . Hopefully I didn't kill it too bad.

So I had the whole back piece off there and it snowed so moisture went inside.

I have 18 inch Arubas on mine, but I prefer these XF rims better.
