Ok Rudy good to see someone is talkin horsepower in here lol. I'm dead serious though, there is a big market for that car, and im sure some people that have money can mod their x-type with parts for it. I want to do more research to find something that can actually work. Obviosly there is nothing reasonable for the x-type so i'll broaden my search for its platform mates. Im not too proud to use contour parts if it'll push me up to 250+

 

So do you have a link to the Contour kit? I'd be curious to look into it. I'm sure the hard parts could be adapted, butthe biggest challenge would likely be with electronics.

 

Yeah or maybe not considering all of the electronics that are covered by the jag plastic all say FORD on them! Not that I have a problem with that because I tend to be a Ford fan!

You had any problems with doors not opening? My passenger side door in the rear is stuck shut...I completely took the door apart from the inside and the lock and unlock mechanism works but the outside handle is like dead...the handle hangs out like its broke...I don't know what to do...and I was curious if this was a common problem or if you could ask your cronies at work what I could do! Any help is appreciated and I can look at it and take pics if you want the doors are still apart I tore both doors apart so I could get a better idea what everything should look like and work like...but I can't figure it out! I even removed the rubber door sill to expose the lock itself to break into the car but still not enough to get at the lock or anything...any help would be greatly appreciated!

hey aquill, on e i took the car to the dealer to have something with the window fixed and once i got home the rear passanger door wudnt open from the inside, the problem was that they didnt hook up the cable that is connected to the door rite, i think that the slightest misconnection (not sure if this is Word) makes it not open form the onside.

 

See my driver's door works perfectly for like a week and than all of a sudden it won't work at all...I can wiggle the door knob for say 20-30 times and than all of a sudden it works...I can open the door from the inside but it's weird because it works sometimes and than doesn't work others and it has nothing to do with me unlocking or locking the door!

 

Have you tried lubing the locking mechanism?

Aquill - sorry I didn't get back sooner, but I was gone for the weekend before I saw your post.
Anyway, does your door work from the inside handle? If neither works, you probably need the latch. If it's just the outside handle inop, there's a tab on the handle that works the latchthat's probably broken off. We have no history specific to an Escape, but the pic's look similar to others that have problems.

 

My door wont open from either inside or outside. I tore the door panel off from the inside and tried pulling on a metal flap that operates by the exterior handle and it still wont open the door...I'm having a tough time figuring it out...pretty soon I'm just going to kick the freaking thing open! I've pretty much tried everything I could think of like I said I even took the rubber gasket off around the door to dry and pick the lock or something but I can't even get at it...i'd be really screwed if I drove the thing off the road and into water and couldn't get out!

 

Don't bother with the door .I think you better have body shop do it for you
