89 XJS 12cyl runs too rich

89 XJS 12cyl runs too rich
When I first start it up it smokes alot and you can smell gas. If I let it idle it starts backfiring and dies. If I give it gas it dies. I have replaced the fuel regulator and plugs but it didn't help at all. Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Errr Macchiavelli has a point you know Kermit............not that wer'e not sympathetic, just that you more likely to get the answers u need on the XJS forum.

And yes, I happen to own a Shaguar...two in fact my good man, an X & S type R (both 05's) and the wife drives a 06 CTS caddy (that's short for Cadillac)....now please pass the grey puppon my dear sir...and sit right here on my knee and i'll fetch you some english earl tea....

Aww come on kermit...........you're not even on this forum, so its difficult for you too judge after one visit dont u think?
There's a lot of really useful info here mainly for X types, cos, well, its an X type forum. Sometimes we like a laff too.
