Brian, first off, welcome to The Forums. I think you will like it here and find lots of useful information here. But, we do ask something from you though. Please stop by the New Member Section and introduce yourself. We like to pride ourselves in being a different sort of car group and we like to get to know one another. Besides, this also gives you a chance to meet those that make this place what it is. So, sit back, grab yourself a cup of joe and enjoy.
As for your problem, based on what you have described, you have the later version of the X-Type (there was a major electrical upgrade that was made in March 2004). You do not mention if your car has DSC (Dynamic Stability Control - will have a button on the center console near the shifted marked "DSC") or not. I am also assuming that Fuse F13 that is blowing is the one that is in the engine bay, not the one in the passenger footwell area. Making a few assumptions, from what I can tell, you have a wire that has touched a sharp edge and it is grounding out. Have you done any work in the engine bay recently that involved moving a bunch of wiring around? I would start in that area and see if you accidentally moved a wire against something sharp and inadvertently damaged a wire. After that, we would need to start disconnecting some of the accessories to narrow down what is overloading the circuit. But, I need to know how the braking system of your car is set up.
