Abs c1155
I just purchased a 2004 X-type sport 3.0 with 5 speed manual. When I purchased it had the ABS light on. I determined the front wheel bearing were bad. I replaced right front wheel bearing, left front spindle, left axle and both lower control arms. After completing the work the light is now intermittent. I am getting C1155 and P1000.
I checked connections to the sensor but have not checked with a meter yet. Previous owner replaced sensor and the wire lead to sensor. I plan to check resistance from the ABS module connector and maybe swap sensor and cable from left to right. Other than checking resistance with a meter are there other things to check?
Thanks

Tennscott, not to ask a silly question, but did you put the bearing in the correct way? There is an inside and outside edge to the bearing. That could possibly cause what you are seeing (granted, normally it just results in a constant light). I just had my wheel bearings replaced and for some reason, when the bearing was put in, the sensor didn't work there after. So, I would be looking at the sensor for any potential problems. Granted, with it being intermittent, I would also be looking at the pins on the sensor and in the plug to make sure that they look good (bright, silver in color). It could be that if the terminals are corroded even slightly, it is causing the signal to be weak and not of a sufficient amplitude to be picked up by the ABS computer.
Triple checked the bearings to make sure they were installed correctly and checked with a piece of steel to make sure magnet was installed. I will check the pins and sockets in the connectors. I ran out of time last night and it got dark on me. What is the best method to clean the connectors if dirty or corroded? Can the car side of the connector be purchased new?
Tennscott, to clean the connectors, take a small screw driver or scribe and gently scratch the surface of the pin/spade to get a silver appearance back.
As for getting a new plug, I wish you luck. I seem to recall you can get a pigtail that goes between the sensor and a connector just beyond the wheel well, but this would be something that you would end up picking up at the dealership. A local auto parts store is not going to carry something like that most likely.
