ABS Light
Just purchased a used 2004 X-Type. Brakes seemed to be fine till I replaced my left front wheel with my spare tire. After changing back to regular wheel and tire, I get the sound of ABS activating with slight break pedal pressure from that wheel. After a couple of breaking attempts, the ABS light comes on and breaks work fine. The light clears when I turn off the key, but happens again when I drive. What may have happened and how do I fix the problem? thanks

Making the assumption that all tires are the same size, I would remove the wheel one more time and check the sensor and cabling. It is possible that when the tire was put on (or shortly there after), something happened to the sensor/cable and now the computer is not seeing that wheel.
The other thing that I would do is get the codes read for the car. What you are wanting to see is something to the effect of C11X5 where X is a number between 4 and 7. This will tell you exactly what wheel has the issue. It is possible that the problem exists on a different wheel and you are simply thinking it is the wheel where you changed the tire.
The reason why the problem goes away when the light goes on is that the computer has turned off the ABS portion of the braking system and has left you with a conventional braking system (ie, able to lock up a wheel if you press the brake pedal hard enough).

That may help shed light on the cause
