ABS relay location
#21
Hello guys!
I am coming back with the rsults for the code:
C1266 - ABS valve power relay circuit failure.
Our colegue THERMO helped me very much and he was very patient with me. I found an ABS module and after the replacement the code was gone and everything is back to normal.
Bottom line, if you have code C1266 then you must replace the ABS module.
I think is a good ideea to open a thread with all the codes that we found in time and what we replaced.
Last time I came back with an update regarding my engine light ON as well.
Thermo, thanks again man!

Here is the official wording from the DTC book for code C1266:
C1266 ABSCM Anti-lock braking Modulator solenoids power supply circuit fault Y JB45
-06
Modulator solenoids power supply circuit: open circuit, short circuit,
high resistance
ABS modulator failure
C1266 DSCCM Dynamic stability control Modulator solenoids power supply circuit fault Y JB185
-06
Modulator solenoids power supply circuit: open circuit, short circuit,
high resistance
DSC modulator failure

Thanks a lot for your reply. I called the dealership for a price of abs pump control module. I wan told it cost $1500 for w/o DSC and $2750 for one with DSC. However, I just bought one used abs control module with a complete pump module together for just $150 + free shipping yesterday. I am sure it is the right model to my car, 2003 jaguar x-type 2.5L w/o DSC/TC system (no dc power between Pin 21 and Pin 39). I am going to change the abs control module first. That is a simple job and will fix the issue, I guess. If not, I am going to change all of them. Your dealer's technician doesn't be trained well since your car had lost brake function at 40kmph after changing the complete module. I also bought a 2006 edition european mechanic manual which covers my car on ebay. I paid $5 + $4.72 shipping and it has over 1000 pages.
tell me about it... Unfortunately I don't have any other place to go, is the single dealership in town...
My module was an used one too except the car I got it from it was almost new. I just conected the module and put carefuly the hood over it and drove it slow. The light was off. Then I decided to go to the dealership to have it replaced.
You should be fine too.
Cheers!

HI tracus,
updated information: it has been running well for more than a year after installing the right abs module.
two days after installing the right abs control module, my 2003 x2.5 runs well and everything works as perfectly as it was the new one. I am so happy. thank you for your disclosed experience here. Maybe I could summerize and add some more meaningful points here for those coming x2.5 jaguar owners with abs problems. Here is the case for which you have to change a new/used workable abs module b/c the following:
1) abs & brake warning lights pop up when the car start running over 4miles/hour. brake warning light sometimes goes off and on.
2) all of the brake lights are ok. all of the brake components and tires are ok in right thread numbers, size, and air pressure.
3) all abs wheel speed sensors are clean and their resistance value are not too large (broken) or too small (shorted). R value should be between 1-2 k.
4) pin 15 is powered.
5) cruise control works well.
then don't worry about the risk of performance right away. search a valuable abs pump/control module on ebay with the right numbers such as 0 265 222 021 1x43 2m110 AE (AE or AF is interchangable, meaning ok).
6) installation: just change the module not the pump. It is an easy job of handling 6 screws only. It does not need to reflash (or socalled reprogram) at the dealership.
today 02-02-2011, it still works perfectly.
today 11-15-2012 it works well.
tracus, do you have anything to add?

I have ordered a replacement unit. What do you mean no need to reflash? Does this mean it does not need reprogramming to the vehicle
Thanks in advance

Just to add, my module is also 0 265 222 021 / 1X43 2M110 AE, light comes on shortly after driving off
Do not have the codes but it was tested yesterday and 3 sensors showing 0kmh at 37kmh, the other one showing correct speed, but the working one showing 2kmh when stationary, so I'm sure it's the module and not 3 sensors gone at the same time
Sienlee, did you just replace the electronic module that is screwed to the aluminium valve block?
Thanks again
Dave

Hi
Just bumping this up hoping one of you x-type experts can provide an answer
See below, can I split the electronic module from the valve block and replace just this part...is there any soldering required?
Then does it need programming to the car afterwards? Sienlee implied it doesn't
Thanks guys

I do have the owners manual but I still don't know where the ABS relay is.
I found the two fuses for ABS but no relay. Is there a relay for ABS?
I do have the code C1266 - ABS valve power relay circuit failure.
So before I am looking for another ABS module I would like to know if it is a dedicated relay there and where it is. It would worth to replace the relay first to see if that will bring back my ABS.
All info are welcome.
Thanks!

What does "FOLLOWING VERY POSTS!
white rock bc /Jaguar x series 2002 2.5 auto" mean?
C1145 is an issue with the right front speed sensor.
What has been repaired or replaced for the P0171 and P0174 codes? Have the "usual" PCV hose been changed ti teh ribbed rubber one from the smooth one? Have the IMT O-Rings been replaced? Has the brake booster hose been replaced? Anything else? What are the symptoms you are having?

P0171 and P0174 codes
ribbed rubber one from the smooth one?.......... YES
IMT O-Rings been replaced?......... YES
Has the brake booster hose been replaced? ......NO {SIMPLE REPLACEMENT?}
Had the usual vac tests /smoke tests etc / Secondary engine light comes on and then goes off...quiet often when going up a hill?
MESSAGE CENTRE "cruise not available"....Car runs OK ......Now mechanic suggesting fuel injectors!!!!
ANY THOUGHTS APPRECIATED!
