abs wheel speed sensor C1145 code
I had my car ran on the computer and got these codes C1145 C1155 P1000 and C1115 I had a list of what all these were and have repaired some of them. Working on the abs wheel speed sensors and cruise control not working. I have the wheel speed sensors but when I got under the car today and found that the wires closest to the hub had been rubbed and cut in half. Not sure what the part number is for the wiring i need to get. Can anyone lead me in the right direction here?
You probably can just repair the wiring you have. If you have to replace the wires, you'll need to visit a wrecking yard. You'd have to get new ones (probably) from the dealer for the price of a new car.
tracy, you can get new wires, but you are going to end up having to get a complete wiring harness for the front of the car to replace those wires. That is going to be a lot of work and a decent expense (use harness will probably set you back $200 and a new one is like $500).
Now, with that being said, you can repair the wires yourself. What I recommend is you find some stuff called "Raychem WCSF-070". This is heat shrink on steroids. You can find it on e-bay or if you have a large electronics store near you (Radio Shack will not cut it, I am talking about someone that deals in nothing but electronic components like transistors, capacitors, etc). I use this stuff to survive a nuclear reactor disaster (literally). It will survive what you are going to put it through on the underside of your car. What you will want to do is to pull the tape back on one side to get about 6+" of free wire. Cut yourself a piece of the Raychem 3-4" in length and slide it on to each wire where the tape is removed. From there, you can strip off about 1/4-1/2" of insulation from the wire on both ends where the wires parted. Solder the matching wires back together (make sure to keep the Raychem back as it will shrink if you expose it to too much heat). From there, you can slide the Raychem and center the solder joint under the Raychem and then using a hair dryer or propane torch, heat up the Raychem to shrink it down over the wires and get it warm enough that it forms a little orange "donut" (round bunch of orange sticky stuff that will ooze out the end) on each end of the Raychem. The orange stuff is a heat activated glue. So, getting it to ooze out is needed as this will seal the wiring up like you never had the wires part in the first place. From there, you can tie the wires out of the way and you should be golden.
