Hello everone! So I am having some problems and not sure what to look for, I hope someone else can point me out the direction. X-Type 2.5 V6 AWD.
DIagnostic shows me these faults, even tho I dont really notice big performance issues. Fluids are good. Maybe tiny bit more exhaust evap white smoke than german cars on warm engine at 90 temp. The worst case is when its above -20 , engine stalls and doesnt hold RPM , so for 30-60 seconds I need to rev the accelerator manually , but when I do I cant hold it on one place on higher rpm , because it will still fall down and try to stall out. In live data Long and Short fuel trims seems the same.
Can there be a intake leak or something else? Because thats my only guess now.
Thank you all in advance!
mantas, I think you have a few things going on here. Lets start with ignoring the P1316 and P0430 codes since those are related to the misfires which are being caused by the plugs. Now, before we go further, did you recently power wash the engine bay? If so, then odds are you got a bunch of water into the plug wells and that is causing your issue. Assuming that you didn't do that, then I would suspect that you have a high resistance ground to the coils. If you open the hood/bonnet if your car and look over by the ABS module, on top of the wheel arch, you should see some wires that are tied to the body of the car. If you follow these wires back, you should find that one of the wires runs to the top of the engine (which will then run to all 6 coils). Pull that wire from the body and clean the terminal and the spot on the body that it meets till both surfaces are shiny silver. Reattach. Clear the codes and then restart the car. see if the codes are still there. If not, then odds are, that was your problem. If they are still there, then I would pull the #1 coil (just to the left of the air box). You can access it without having to remove anything else but a single bolt. Is there something down in the plug well/something on the end of the plug boot? If yes, if it is oil, then you need a set of new valve cover gaskets installed. If you have water, this would point back to getting excessive water on top of the engine.
When was the last time you filled the gas tank? If you have been stuck at home and not filled up the car in say 3-4 months, then it is possible that you have some moisture in the gas and this is causing you issues. You can try a can of dry gas to help things out, but filling up the tank may be all that is needed to help . Lets see what you have from here.
Now, for your P0455 code. Your most likely source for this code is a bad gas cap (which could be relating back to your misfire issue). If you can, get a new gas cap and install that to see if that corrects this code. If the new cap does not help things, then you most likely need to clean the purge valve (especially if you like to fill the gas tank really full). If you open the hood/bonnet of the car, look to the left of the brake booster. if you look down in that opening, you will see 2 solenoid valves there attached to the firewall with a rubber grommet that looks like a figure 8. Remove the 2 solenoid valves and then clean them with some carb cleaner. Reinstall. Odds are, that will fix your P0455 code. In short, the purge valve gets stuck shut and it doesn't draw the required vacuum on the gas tank when you are driving and the car sees this as a gross leak.
