Default Are all 3.0 cranks the same?

Seems the engine has spun a rod bearing due to an oiling issue and I'll be looking for a replacement long block. The car is a 2002 X-Type Sport 5-speed manual. These are rare as hell in the US. I don't want to mess around drilling the crank for a manual pilot bearing, so I'm asking anyone who might know if the cranks are all drilled for it or if I have to try to find an engine from a manual.

Krieger, the 3.0L engine is the same whether it has a manual tranny behind it or an automatic. You should be able to find a good motor from out of an X-Type with relative ease.

The other thing that you can do is look at Lincoln LS's. If my memory serves me correct, they have the same basic set up at the X-Type. You cannot use a Ford Duratec engine as there are differences with those (specifically the variable valve timing and the intake). But, the Lincoln has those features. So, that should open up the market all the more for you. The only "down side" I can see with the Lincoln LS motor is that I believe that motor has the water pump on the front of the engine where the Jaguar motor has the water pump on the rear. But the bolt pattern for the tranny is the same between the two engines.

Thanks; that's exactly what I needed to know. I don't think my installer will want to deal with a Lincoln engine, even though the difference may be slight. There seem to be enough X-Type 3.0 engines available that I shouldn't have trouble finding one.
