How much HP does the BMW 550i have? Anyone know the actual 0-60 time?

If Im not mistaken they have a V8 with 360hp and a 0-60 of 5.8. My X-Type V6 with around 250hp can do 0-60 in just about 5.9 seconds (with perfect shifts).

I was at a stoplight today minding my own business when some girl in a 550i (auto) pulls right up on my ***. I slowly shifted into second when I see her floor it and start to pull out to my left and try to pass me. I then floored it in second and was able to stay neck and neck with her until I had a delayed shift into 3rd and she started to pull ahead. We only got up to about 90 before we started to decelerate but she wasn't going anywhere.

She should have pulled up next to me so I could have used first gear and really tested it. It would have been pretty sweet to deny a 550i V8 with an X-Type! Either way, I was suprised as to how well it performed agaisnt a car way out of it's class.

She probably didn't know much of a damn thing about horsepower or engine displacement. But, she obviously felt like her BMW would just blow my doors off but that wasn't the case.

I have no problem losing a race in my Jag (especially against a beemer) because we know it's still the better looking car.

The M3 I had for a short period of time was fast as ***** but I didn't appreciate it as much as my Jag. The speed alone wasn't enough to satisfy me, especially when there are 50 of the exact same cars in the area.

 

Can't stress that enough. The unique aspect of owning a Jag and being one of the few around that has one feels really good. Everyone and their momma got a BMW or a Benz.

 

Is there a reason we are all missing the important question here?

Was she hot???

 

Seemed to be pretty hott, though, I've found that a girl in a nice car can often be misinterpreted as being hot when that's not necessarily the case.

It's very similar to those giant glasses that hide their face, it's really hard to tell. Plus the windows were tinted.

 

Perhaps a long haired dude? Perhaps long haired fruity dude that wears big glasses?

No just sounded like he really didn't know who or what it was! I haven't really raced anyone or anything...probably intentionally ticked some people off but generally don't race!

No I was just trying to pry in and make a laugh but nobody got it and I don't know how to explain...he said he's misinterpreted so I assume he might have misinterpreted the situation...know I'm saying? He sounded unsure...

Man fjt I just pulled the bumper of the x and the freaking 2 bolts that hold the back up sensors to the bumper, one will not come off...anyways though it's actually easy other than that removal is easy and replacement will be even more fun...I'll have pics to follow and a write up...I was going to do a faq but I was sooo dirty and irritated that there was no way I was going to end up ruining my camera over it... (had the car not been from michigan and salty winters the bolts would come off no problem...)

The misinterpretation was in regards to whether or not she was "hot". Not whether or not is was a "she", that part was clear lol.

 

funny... had experience with a newer 2 dr acura.(not sure of model), young pimply faced dude, gets right behind me then jumps lanes and thinks he's gonna walk away from me, neck and neck up to about 40 mph. oh yeah then the feeling passed when the wife's yelling finely broke my race induced trance. my little girl was cheering the whole time. Bad dad? my little girl is really a gear head. LOL!
