Hey guys, Ive been trying to rememdy this strange howling whine that i get at speeds above 50mph under load (see sound clip and post here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...d=1#post125531)
So far ive flushed the X-fer case, transmission and lubed the Prop shaft and no improvement. At this point i think i just have to take it in to the shop and cough up some dough (which i def cant spare). Any last suggestions before i take it in???

P.S. I was listening carefully to the noise last night and although the probability is that the x-fer case is going bad the noise actually sounds more like its coming from further forward and on the drivers side... Possible wheel bearing?

matl, my experience with wheel bearings failing is that you will also feel it in the steering wheel. Also, when you drive straight and turn in 1 direction, the noise will be constant, but you turn the other way and the noise will go away. By watching the video, it looks like the noise is constant in both directions. This would tend to lead me towards something else. It may still be the propeller bearing (flat spot on a bearing). Other than that, not many other things that would be cheap fixes. I wish you luck.
