any word on the guy with serious rust?
I am having my hood replaced because of some rust on the seam along the RH edge. cant see it unless the hood is open.
I also have removed the plasic rockers ( sills - side skirts) because they are going to get resprayed at the same time as the new hood. But the holes in the metal around the clips have rust around them far worse than the hood. I will ask tomorrow whenI drop off the parts.. If not i will see if I can get them blasted, painted and then covered in some rubberised coating... does not need to be pretty there because the area is covered by the side skirts...

Guy with serious rust??? Where do I start.... Fist size holes in both c-pillars & front inner arches, crusty bulkhead (firewall), rotten bootlid, crumbly doors, bubbly roof. Then I do have a Leyland commie built XJ40 so what do I expect??? That doesn't sound good though Bo', what year is your car??

my car is an 02 with 155000 km on it. I consider the car to be very good for corrosion. I am not comparing to Arizona cars.. I mean compared to local cars here. The car has stood up well. Here we try to stretch the corrosion warranty to the limits... cars die from rust or crashing ... never from wearing out.

Funny you should bring this up..
I have been bugging Jag canada about the replacement hood. It does not have the seam sealer along the edge and I am sure it will fail faster than the original. investigation continues at their end. for me it is an instant diagnosis of shoddy work... they seem to want to take time thinking about it.
in an unrelated email. another Canadian was asking me about my car and he told me he got his dealer to fix up the rust on the sills...... the dealerI was at claimed they have never seen the problem before and ignore the issue. Then a few emails later.. it turn out he went to the SAME DEALER - SAME ADVISOR....I think I am going to confront him (gently - yes yes.. gotta make friends with these liars..- sheesh).
The car has a corrosion warranty and I think they should honour it. I also now know they are cutting corners at the body shop - so the whole thing looks like it will be painful process.
I dont know why I have to monitor their damn work like this.....It is not my job.. it is their job to do things right.
More later...

Do you know the fellow who told you about his rust problem? Ask him about his demeanor when he went into the dealer. If you could get him to go with you, that would be excellent. That way you can ask them why they would take care of his car and not yours!
