So I am driving down the road approaching an intersection with the CD player on. Use the turn signal and I hear the door locks activate, the same as if you were to hit the lock on the remote when the door was already locked.

Today, driving down the road and it starts up again, only this time it's doing it over and over. Must have been like 15 times in rapid succession over less than .5 km.... nothing noted on the dash readout, no lights coming on, just the repeated sound of the door locks at 55 km/h. Anyone had this issue? I am thinking maybe the lock relay.

 

Guess I should have said off the top, 2006 X-Type luxury edition.

 

That is pretty odd, I know the doors lock at something like 10MPH, but have never heard of them locking and unlocking as you're driving, and I can't imagine how the signal fits in. Sounds to me like a short but Thermo or one of the other genious' here might have a better explanation.....what's a 'Luxury' edition? Is that a Premium or something else?

 

They don't actually "unlock". The locks are engaged in transit, what is happening are the doors are repeatedly locking, it happened again about 20 minutes ago while stopped at a red light. And I am now sure the turn signal had nothing to do with it, just coincidence.

As for what a "Luxury edition" is, I'll have to ask the dealer when I take it in for the door locks. We actually have 2 X-types (2004 and 2006) and the only differences are that the "luxury" has premium sound and xenon headlights. It also has a chrome plate just below the driver's side signal with "luxury edition" (see pic below). Aside from that, don't see any other differences .
