anyone had to replace torque converter?

04 X-type with 75k miles. Hearing a "Clank, clank" noise while in P, D, or R, but not in neutral. Car drives fine and shifts ok. Independant Jag shop thinks could be Torque Converter or Flywheel. I know they are not cheap, but hopefully not a new transmission.

Turnsout it flexplate needs to be replaced (whew!). Out of the 3 scenarios (Flexplate, Torque Conv., New Trans) this is the cheapest. Parts/Labor total $850 at ind. shop. They need to drop trans to access flexplate which is where costs come in.
