Default Anyone install an aftermarket remote starter in the X

Hey dudes,
I am thinking about getting an aftermarket remote starter in the 2003 X. My wife has one in her car and it is very nice for the cold weather, you get in a warm car and drive away instead of sitting in a freezing car waiting for it to start to warm up.

Did it turn out OK? Please share your experiences.

Thanks and have a great weekend,
H

I have never done this with the Jag. I was told by my mechanic not to. I asked why and he said its better not to mess with the electronics in the car. He said i should just turn on the seat warmers and deal with it.

The dealership said they don't do it inhouse, but they recommended a shop that they use. I talked to the guy, he sounds like he has done many before - $400 plus tax installed. Sounds like a good deal.

You should have asked him to name one car produced without electronics since the "invention" of the remote starter. In fact, you may be hard pressed to find a remote starter kit that will work in a car without electronics. Old habits die hard... the UK may never live down their past electrical deficiencies.

i've heard that diesel engines should not run on idle. the wear is much bigger and they don't warm up ... so, in winter I start the engine and by the time I clean the ice off the windshield, the heater in the cooling system starts do its job. is still doesn't warm up as fast as a otto engine.
