Default that b1tch is back?

yes!
iownme is back.
hey dell, thermo, brutal, exepat and everyone else.
after my retreat all those years ago i left the x type and went to a 2015 F type S.
wrote it off within 6 months (only had liability insurance)
went to a 2014 XF, hated it.
end of '23 i bought a 2024 bmw330e (hybrid)
hated it....still have it (up for sale)
last week i came across a 2006 black on black x type sport with 57800 miles with the carbon fiber/ alcantera interior (i still have my old one with those specs)
and decided to buy it and sell the bmw.
so hopefully the trucker will pick it up this week.
its coming from MN and i now live in GA.
here we go again!

thanks thermo, thrilled to see most of us still here!.
part of the reasoning behind going back to the x is its sustainability, meaning i know it inside out and can do pretty much anything, especially after all the work i put into those 2 supercharged jags.
working on an x again will be a breeze!.
i have only seen a few pics of the car and like the others, i bought it sight unseen.
the seller seems like a great guy but not a member of any jaag forums.
since retiring the 84 xj6 years ago, the x has been the only car ive really loved, so made sense to go back to it.
the electronification and spying abilities of newer cars is a total turn off for me.
i did not take long to find the "turn off learn my habits" feature of the '24 bmw, alas i was unable to prevent it from hijacking my phones bluetooth whenever i was 100' away from the totally switched off car

I hear you about the newer cars and how they want to "learn what you do to make the experience better". BS. I am pondering a new vehicle right now, but I am looking at a bare bones F150 standard cab/short box with the coyote 5.0L motor. I Figure a good whipple supercharger, a 3/5 drop, some wider tires, and a few other goodies should make a nice 800 hp grocery getter. LMAO. IF I get my way, the factory radio is getting removed (won't be tied to anything) and then I am putting in my own stereo system. Then I can add the goodies that I want and no "big brother" watching over me.

WIsh you luck with hte new car. HOPefully you can keep this one fairly stock to then dedicate time to make the others scoot like a raped ape. I had contempleted upgrading my X-TYpe, but I figured I wanted something a bit more proven and I would have gone wiht the XE and the 3.0L supercharged AWD SE. I got to drive one and it was a blast. Nothing like doing a 4 wheel slide on asphalt as you are coming out of a corner. Hate to be the person that bought the car after how I abused it.

Long time no see. Still kicking after being diagnosed with stage 4 b2 metastatic prostate cancer in September 2022 and given 1 year to live. Lots of tests, procedures, Brachytherapy, external beam radiation and meds and not dead yet, lol.
At least you know the ins and outs of an X. Hope the purchase is all you hope for.

thermo...you appear to have grown younger instead of older...well done!!! i applaud you.

i detest bigbrother and will do all i can to kick him in the knuts till the day i cant hold onto a leather steering wheel!

i was too was reluctantly looking at the xe 3.0 but remembered agonizingly working on the 2 supercharged 3.0's i recently had, i was starting to consider the xe2.0 (shudder) when i came across the x type i just bought.

i just learned that 2006 was the last year they made a sport version and it came with the body kit from the rare 2004 x type spirit which i adore. so finding a cheap low milage one was a no brainer.

i still have my old one but its more of a lawn ornament now, but still runs well with over 170000 miles.
i am a fan of jags with bodykits!.

dell....cancer shmancer as they say... it'll take a whole lot more than pesky cells going haywire to take you out....you have way too many newbies to scold and teach our rules to for that to happen, we aint letting go of you that easily, no sireee.
lets see how many identical breakdowns we have again now im back (physical not mental!!)

60 is the new 30 and pills are the new candy so welcome to 2025 and imagine they are skittles, if it was me id paint 'em

@iownme:
Yep, I'm also not a fan of the Tata-Jags. The newest in my collection is a 2006 Jag.
When I read your first post on top, I accidentally read the mileage as 578000 miles.
But when you wrote in post #6 above about a low mileage car, I double checked...
57800 miles - visually clarification: 57,800 miles. That sounds promising.

...and it is being delivered by the "imbecile delivery service" - apparently...:
Even though they have placed little pads under the massive chains, those chains will most likely do damage to the 4 rims.
Massive chains are not the "tool" to fixate a car onto a tilt-tray, but strong belts...

its no worse than the imbecile that delivered the last x type, in fact its better!.
the last guy damaged parts i wanted to use, in this case, the wheels wont be used, i'll be installing the black "niche" wheels from my old x type.
last guy used 2x8's to load which were too
short so he busted those 2006 lowered side skirts, so any damage here may offset the jacked up price.
this is the 2nd attempt to get the car here, the first driver kept me hanging for a week then cancelled, this guy was available a day after contacting him.... licensed and bonded etc.
moving a car 1300 miles should be easier than it was, its 20 fkin 25 after all.

With you on the newer Jags ,just can't warm to them. Lovely cars but just don't seem to have that "Jag" look about them. Dreading the day when I have to move on from my X type. I know they're aren't many other X type petrol sovereigns with a manual gear box around and mine is just a lovely car to drive

1300mls distance....
That is slightly less than from Frankfurt to Athens
and
slightly more than from Melbourne to Fraser Island (which is above Brisbane).

Wow.
It would help, if you were to live in an attractive holiday destination so that that driver of the tilt tray could chill out for a week after delivering your X....

its roughly $1 per mile for transporting here, the place its coming from suffers bad winters so i expect the underside to be rusty, but it does appear to have been garaged so we will see.
it may be arriving today.
its common for guys with trailers to drive thousands of miles picking up and dropping off shipments on the way, its a good way to make money here with the various online shipping brokers.

"the last one" has been parked outside my house for the last 2 or 3 years, mostly neglected, an occasional hose down and blow the leaves off but thats about it.
yesterday i picked up a new battery for it ($119 autozone) and it started right up no problem.
not bad for sitting for years with old petrol(gas)
the seats had a little surface mold which cleaned right off.
currently has over 170000, the last one got close to 200,000

I just showed my wife that I was right about the "imbecile delivery service" in the US...
She said: How can that be? They are "PROFESSIONALS"..., and not just the guy next door saying: "Hey mate, I'll help you out...!"
All I could say there, was: Yes, they are professionals - "professional idiots!" - just as Dell's video clip picturizes...

Btw: As an Engineer I am doing pretty much in every possible situation my own personal FMEA in my head.
That is: "Failure Mode and Effects Analysis" - or in easy words:
I think about what could possibly go wrong before it does go wrong - and then I do the things required, so that it does NOT go wrong...

Sadly, there are a lot of things utterly out of my control, which could and will destroy us all - just think about AI for a moment...

how brave and risky to show proof to a wife that one was right!
i have learnt that speaking of the dreaded ai is akin to politics, religion and vaccinations....all to be avoided.
it now appears that the ai lovers think its realer than humans.
quite perplexing and worrying.

the black wheels from the old car are now on the new one and yesterday was my first 70 mile journey.
its weird going from fast modern cars back to an x but i love it more, this one has half the milage my last 2 had when i got them and it feels it... the engine feels "stronger" almost v8 like. i dont remember the last 2 being that way.

im going to get it up on a lift tmrw, i'll post back what i find
