Smile Back with a new car!

Hi guys,
Hope you are all well....
I'm back with a new car and have missed you all (yes Dennis you too!). .
After returning from hols to Spain in Feb I wasnt able to log back on...but just realised problem was to do with cap locks!
I traded in my X Type last week for an XJ357 LWB Soveriegn TDVi
Got it for a bargain even though its not even 2.5 yet as its got 101k on the clock
Here they are together with the last pic of my X Type the day it was delivered...

Features include:-
XJ357 LWB Sovereign TDVi,
Cruise,Premium Sound,Softgrained Ruched Ivory leather with contrasting piping,Rear DVDs,Voice,Bluetooth,Nav,20" Callistos,255-35R17 Dunlops,Bi-Xenons,Rev/Frt PDC,Auto lights and wipers,Rear heated electric seats,4 electric headrests,Rear Multimedia Centre.
Its just had the windscreen replaced and is at Jag tomorrow to hopefully get a couple of things sorted under warranty.
On a run it gets over 50mpg which wil be handy as driving to France next month.
Cant get the 13 yr old out of it as he loves watching DVDs in the back, know Dr Who scripts off by heart as it took days to figure out how to turn sound to headphones only instead off through all the speakers while I was wainting for the manuals to come.
Hope all your X Types are running well!

What a beautiful car. And it looks like it is fully equipped. If you don't mind, what year is it and how much did you pay for it? And what engine is in this car?

I would find a way to stick a leaper on that beauty, that would be icing on the cake

Hi Sevren,
Its nearly fully loaded, bought it as having TV...it doesnt and 4 zone climate..it doesnt..apart from that its got everything else.
Its a Jan 2007 car and the garage selling it reckoned it was £65,000 new.I paid £17495 and got £3000 off that for my X type (which is for sale here....here)
Its got a 2.7 Twin Turbo Diesel engine, giving out 207 BHP and 435 Nm of torque but that will all change once I get it chipped after the injector??? problem is sorted.
If you search on youtube Topgear had a race from Basel Germany to Blackpool and the SWB version of the same car did 1000 miles on a tank of fuel.
Its developed a vibration when driving or standing still and the dealer got a fault code P0263 which could be the No1 injector but would need more investigating.
It went in to try and get a couple of things sorted under warranty...the vibration from the injector, the xenons dont seem to look for a level when the ignition is turned on (if its the same as the X Type) and there is bubbling paint on the LH A Pillar where the roof is welded to the A Pillar which I looked up on Jaguar GTR and seems to be a common fault???.
The dealer took the car Thursday and later that day returned it saying that because it had missed a service non of the faults would not be covered.
I then had a call yesterday saying they are trying to pull a few strings to get it done...will find out Monday.
If they cant do the jobs under warranty I have just found out that a guy at my local Jag club is a friend of another local dealers principal who brought an XFR to our local meeting the other month so I may be able to get warranty work done there.
Fingers crossed...
Heres some pics of the quads......

Off to Thoresby Hall, Notts., on Sunday for a big Jag meet...3000 Jags expected to be there.
I was thinking of putting a later 2008MY grill on the car...what do you think?
The current one is groowing on me but Ive seen a few with the later grill and am in 2 minds.
Jag want nearly £1000 (nearly One thousand!) for the 2 upper grilles with surround and badge but ebay are £145 and thats painted with the badge!

Very nice. Glad to see what my next Jag will look like if I survive the weak economy for about 2 years.

Looks like the perfect event to show off your new car :-)

I would drive around downtown with that Austin Powers car, that would be sweet

Jag took my car in on Thursday and gave me a magnificent Volvo S40 1.6 petrol...sorry wrote magnificent instead of s**t,hopelessly underpowered,bland..my mistake
They ordered an injector which arrived today and are busy fitting it, hopefully this will sort the intermittent shaking.
The headlamps have been reconfigured to the car and are now levelling properly.
The dealer sent a pic of the bubbling paint to Jag and is going to chase them up tomorrow to see if they will cover it (should do as its on Jags GTR website about the problem when I paid to go on it)
They know of no Jag Sat Navs with 3D or colour mapping like whats in the brochure for my car...a bit of editing the brochure screen display to show it more colourful I think???
All being well I should have it back tomorrow afternoon with a date to book the car in to fix the paintwork and all mechanical items items fixed (fingers crossed).
I am expecting the tuning box to take the power up to around 250PS and the torque to over 500Nm together with up to 15% better economy when not flooring it.
The next mod after that maybe a larger intercooler if its possible to fit one on a diesel????? like I did with my petrol MR2 Turbo.(Big power increase with same boost). The rad specialist we use can make a larger intercooler if it would fit and work??
PS not getting emails to thread replies even though configured??

Got the XJ back from the dealer today after being in to get injector replaced under warranty which they said was causing the violent shaking.
They brought the car back saying it was fixed and running smoothly.
Took car out an hour later after work and still running with a bad vibration.
Contacted them immediately as Im going to France in the morning and I now have to go in at 830am (as all the techs had gone home) to see if they can find any codes.
They knew I will be away tomorrow morning for nearly 2 weeks when they took the car in last week.
On top of that one of the headrest dvd screen covers that I had made to hide the screens is missing.
My blood is starting to boil....deep breaths, deep breaths, thats better.... * )!_*^%$%$"£&^wits!!!

Re the shaking....have done over 2500 miles running fine since the shaking when the dealer replaced the injector.Yesterday had an amber warning light and a message saying DPF full..see handbook.Handbook says to go on a 20 min journey over 30mph to burn off the pollutants from the DPF )diesel particulate filter). If this isnt done the warning light turns red and its a dealer visit to empty the DPF.
Shortly into the journey the car started shaking violently so Im wondering if it has anything to do with the DPF or the car adding extra diesel in at the end of combustion to raise the temp to allow the DPF to regenerate.Dealer says they will check for any codes after it gets the paintwork done at the (crap so Ive heard) authorised bodyshop.S Type and XJ diesels are supposed to automatically regenerate the DPF on runs and this hasnt been done on mone since my journeys are all short since getting back from holiday

Bought an 09 Grille from ebay and it came painted and paint job is very good.
Only thing was they forgot to send the free badge we agreed but they are going to send it 1st class tomorrow.
Theres a tiny scratch on the top of the surround which I am going to have a go at polishing out at the bodyshop tomorrow. It wont be seen when the bonnet is down anyway but they have said they will replace the grill if it wont polish out.
10/10 for customer service really.
The Pro-Bitz tuning box also arrived so looking forward to the extra BHP and big jump in torque.
To cap everything off had an email and text from the dealer today saying Jaguar has eventually agreed to repair the paint bubble where the roof is welded to the A Post under warranty.
The headrest cover that my dad (to match the ivory and dark piping) made which went missing when it was in for other warranty work is going to be either matched at a trimmers at the dealers expense or if they cant match it they are going to get another pair made.
Very pleased.
