bad sensor? very unusual syptoms
Hi guys, i've had my x type for about 5 years and it randomly does the weirdest thing. Usually during the winter and when on the highway the check engine light will come on and i'll get the "cruise not available" reading, then my temp gauge rapidly punges all the way hot and my dash reads "caution high temperature". I pull over and turn the car off and when i turn it back on everything is fine. I'm assuming a bad sensor? Anyone run into this before? thanks
ok, gotcha. thought because it was such a unique situation it might have been covered before. Unfortunately the CEL has turned off, if it happens again i'll rush over the the Auto parts store to pull the code. thanks
I had exactly the same thing happen to my '03 X-type right after I bought it. After 2 times to the dealer, replacing sensors, etc. it turned out to be the thermostat was bad. That was it. The problem has not returned since.
