Cool bank 1 o2 sensor

help i have a x type jag 2002 v6 2.5 with eng man light on diagnosed as o2 sensor went into garage to be replaced , came out of garage 2 days later still not done they said they are unable to remove sensor , i think they may have used a quick squirt of wd40 , if i was to apply heat to the exhaust would this release the sticky, rusty o2 sensor

I wound up cutting a slit in the heat shield and folding it back so that I could get a closed end wrench on the sensor and then a few whacks with a hammer got mine to loosen up.
