Unhappy Battery light briefly on at high revs

Only a few days ago when accelerating hard from a standstill I'm sure I saw the battery light come on briefly as the revs climbed higher. It went out as soon as i let off the gas. I haven't been able to replicate the issue - I've tried hard acceleration and now the battery light remains unlit. Any ideas as to why what I have described might have happened?

Currently I don't trust the car as a result - I am postponing my interstate holiday trip until I get the auto electrician to check it out. I don't want to risk a charging failure occurring on my interstate trip.

CLack, here is a check for you to try. Connect a multimeter across the battery and position the multimeter so you can see it from the driver's seat. Start the car and then turn on your headlitghts, rear defroster, and both seat heaters. This will put a fair load on the alternator. With the car warmed up, but still in park, rev the engine up to where you saw the light come on before (5,000 RPM?). As the engine RPMs go up, watch the voltage on the multimeter. Does it start to fall towards 12.6 VDC? It shouldn't, but if it does, then that is a sign that your alternator is starting to go. That should give you some confidence in your car if the voltage drops a lot. IT is going to move around a little bit, but if anything, it should rise a little bit as the RPMs climb. Could you have seen the light as the engine RPMs returned to around 2,000 RPM? I could possibly see a "low voltage" condition happening then. You can confirm this by revving the engine up and down as you watch the multimeter. Should see the voltage climb momentarily as the RPMs rapidly rise and then see them be lower than normal with a rapid drop in RPMs.
