Default Battery Removal / Electrical Reset

So the oddest thing is happening in my 2004 x with factory navigation... The voice command that is supposed to override the radio and give audible directions is not working. I have gone through the ENTIRE Owners manual and the navigation book, all settings are on, the volume is up, but no voice. Other than that everything works great.

So.... I removed the battery in an attempt to completely reset the audio system settings. This is what happened, The temperature readout display on the center console went from Fahrenheit to Celsius but the radio kept ALL of the settings including the radio station presets. I have NEVER seen anything like this before, it also kept the destination plotted in the navigation function. I had the battery out for AT LEAST 15 mins. Is there a battery backup for the radio/navigation? I could not find anything on this in the manuals. In every other car I have ever seen, battery removal = radio stations resetting to defaults.

Anybody have experience with this system?
