Default Block heater, yes or no?

Greetings from frozen central Alberta. What is the word on block heaters are the good to install or is it a bad idea? Thanks

Where about in Central Alberta are you? I forgot.

I can confirm it's cold.
I can conform it's a good idea if you are parking outside tonight.
I can confirm you can have on on the X (I don't have one installed) but I'm not sure if it's a dealer only part. I would imagine so.

Hold on to your wallet- $230 plus installation at a dealer. Don't feel bad, it's $592. for an S-type.

I didn't even know my car had one till I was underneath doing an oil change and found the plug.

Crappy Tire had a model of a block heater that went into the heater hose, and had a small element and a recirc pump. So it kept the water pumping as long as you had you heater open and worked like a charm when I lived in Northern BC. It's universal, the regular block heaters replace a frost plug or something and are a friggen chore to install. This one took me 5 minutes.
