Default Blown Head Gasket

Found out today that my 2002 X-type has a blown head gasket. Any advice on the job or things to look out for? Is their any other gaskets that should be replaced in the process?

Minimum expect to get a full-Headset. That will have the head gaskets, valve covers, intake, t-stat, valve seals, distributor if equiped. Basically all the gaskets and seals needed when you pull the heads.
I'm still new to Jags, so I don't know if the 02 has a sideways engine like mine (04 AWD). But if it does...

If you are thinking about taking this on youself, get a good shop manual and read up on it first. I don't know a good manual to suggest on a Jag, haven't bought one yet. Chiltons are usually better than Haynes, and I don't know if either cover Jags.

Get some wire marking numbers, available at Lowes electrical dept. Mark every thing you unplug (wires, vacuum, fuel, water, etc), both sides with same number and log it in a notebook. Take photos.

You'll want to lap the valves while you have the heads off. You can probably find good topics on that thru Google or YouTube.
Also, replace t-stat and water pump if its not too expensive, you will appreciate it if you ever had to change just the water pump. Not to mention the damage a bad one can do, like a blown head gasket.

Which reminds me, you need to discover why it blew and correct that.
Running hot: bad water pump, leak in system, hose, radiator.
Detonation: cheap or low grade gas
The head may also be warped, usually caused by overheating, if so, it will need to be shaved down at the machine shop, or replaced.
Sometimes they just go bad, I had one on a Ford that did one time.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the input. I was told that their are no head gasket kits sold for this car so I guess I have to buy everything separately.
