Default Bonnet mascot removal?

Hi there

New boy here looking at buying an X Type, about 2004, some of them have the bonnet mascot on them and I was wondering if you can just remove them.

Are they just stuck on and can be removed easily or are they bolted through the bonnet?

Cheers

1) they are spring-loaded and bolted through the bonnet.
2) if removed, holes will be left in the bonnet.

But...the bonnet badge from an S-Type will fit the holes left by an X-Type leaper removal perfectly. Did it. Should be plenty of S-type bonnet badges available across the pond.

Yep, S badge bolts right on.

Forgot that your insurance folks over there don't like the mascot!

Ha, wasn't aware of any insurance issue, I get why but to be honest it's just that I don't like it

Mine was attached by double sided sticky tape and was already partially detached when I bought the car. I don't like them either so simply pulled it off (carefully!) and cleaned up the residue with white spirit. On a UK car it is almost certainly an after market fitment and as such may be bolted on or stuck on.

The hood ornaments are considered a pedestrian hazard in most of Europe; many MOT guys will ding you for 'em!

So many people seem to want these on the car. I too don't like them. The only ones I ever see here in the UK are done after. I wouldn't be able to bring myself to drill my bonnet to be honest.
