Hi,

I just got an 03 2.1 SE in silver. I would like to get one of these boot spoilers though am worried about fitting. Are they just held on by the adhesive tape? and how to you get them lined up perfectly?
My worry is i dont get it right and end up having to pull it off along with the paint lacquer :-(

Sorry to hijack the tread.

I myself have become interested in the AMB boot spoilers as ufoz8mycow suggested and Jaggyx linked too... and I am concerned as well on how to know where EXACTLY should it go? I mean I kind of think its common sense to line them up evenly on both sides... but I'm becoming more hesitant the more I think about it... Anyone want to put our nerves to rest on how simple it was to install these?

Also, I believe they are held on by 3m tape, which I am confident in. I also heard if you ever have to remove 3m from a car to use a blow dryer to heat up the glue underneath so it won't rip off your paint..

yeah i too am very hesitant about buying the amb spoiler, it looks super good on the pictures but i am worries about this being a permanent mod ( i dont want the tape to leave residue if i decide to pull the spoiler off one day) also i looked at the ebay page and if you look closely it shows pictures of two different spoilers. one that goes all the way to the end of the trunk and one that stops a few inches short on both sides. this made even more hesitant.

well i would say so, i think the spoiler is just a universal spoiler that looks somewhat like the OEM. I dont think this is an OEM replica, so yeah it will fit but i dont know if its something i want to do to my trunk lid if its not the real deal. IMO

Check out his store : http://shop.ebay.com/amebawings_com/...&_trksid=p3686

You were right, it is some type of universal lip spoiler... its the same one for every car, they just mass produce them and paint them with the color code you supply....

On the contrary... The seller has a really good feedback record with a lot of comments claiming quality and perfect color match...

ufoz8mycow, you said you have purchased one, does it look OEM? '

any pics?

You know the factory spoiler on Sport models stop short of the trunk opening on both sides by a couple inches, right?. Even if it does go all the way, like in the last picture, still looks okay. For the $ involved, and painted to boot, it's a pretty cheap mod. Jaggyx, once it's on there, why would you want to remove it?

well im not sure if i would want to remove it later on, i just don't feel comfortable putting the non oem spoiler on for good. if it was oem then i would never want to remove it, but i just feel iffy about this universal lip.

Maybe the angle on the last picture is what makes it look longer? All the pics I've seen from this dealer looks like the real deal....

Anyone gonna go for it? I think I might....

Is 3M tape easily removed off car paint if done a certain way?

Or is it a kind of thing where your stuck with it forever?
