Angry Brake light stays on..

I have 2003 X-type manual and the brake light stays on the dashboard after I release the brake, any suggestions? The fluid light says it low and I filled it up and the light is still on. Could it be the master cylinder or something not as major?

burton, odds are, it is the switch in the center console that has most likely failed and it is making the car think it is still engaged. Sometimes you can shoot the switch with some WD-40 and it will loosen it up and make it work correctly. Worst case, access the switch on the e-brake and unplug it. If the light goes off, then it confirms the switch is your problem. If the light stays on, then you have other issues. Let me know if this is the case and we can take things from there.

If you don't mind a little bit of a drive, I am about an hour south of you in California, MD and we can look at it together and find the solution to your problem.
