strange things happening
ok sooo ,, my #7 fuse (15 Amp) in the left heel board was out so my power mirrors, dome lights, map lights, manuel tilt telescopic, all didnt work ,, so i replaced the fuse all good so i thoght ,,, then i realized that when i put that fuse in it kill"s all tail, rear fog, and brake lights???? , take the fuse back out and all the tail lights work again?? any clues? on a side note my 99 XJR is in pristine condition with 131,000 miles on it , i purchased it from a 91 year old lady that was the original owner it i super clean and nothing has ever been messed with .

Thank you guys , you were exactly right ,, I took off the plastic hinge cover and found 5 broken wires !!

ok so i put the wires back together at the trunk hinge and that fixed a lot of things but im still missing front fog lights, rear running lights ( all other lights work including rear fog lights ) and lights in the stereo system and climate contols??? any thoughts?
Well, then it is time to start the sometimes painful task of chasing everything down with the schematic and a test lamp or meter. I like a testlamp for circuit tracing because it applies some loasd and is easier to see while lying on you back upside down!
The stickys have the JTIS manual with the electrical drawings and several kind forum members have separated them out - I am sure they will jump in and forward them to you if you ask. Make sure you have ther drawing for your model year. There are some changes year to year.
Also, if yoiu need advice tracing the circuits along the way, say the word after you have the schematic and a test device in hand.

It is possible your latest problem is with a loose wire (or more) in the multifunction switch, controlled by light stalk on the left of the steering wheel.
Search for multifunction switch; removing steering wheel; clock spring, etc for instructions on removing wheel and examining the switch -- rats nest of wires that control the lights you are missing.
