Default Breather hose updated?

just got in my parts, new spark plugs, intake manifold gaskets, throttle body seal, and cabin filter. also bought a breather hose and it came in as well. instantly i knew that the new one was different. the new one is the same exact shape, however it is not a smooth outside texture, instead it has a raised waffle pattern. hose is still the same thickness, it seems. im thinking they added it for extra strength as it does bend to connect. i think it looks cool. anyone else seen this?? -stevis05

Everyone that has had to replace it due to the three inch split along the bottom of the original one...

Yeah, its been stated the new one is much sturdier than the old one to make it less likely to split

hmmm... im seeing a trend here:

parts ive bought that are stock parts but updated

breather hose, upper intake manifold gaskets, imt vavle seals

anyone know of any other parts that have been updated like this? same part but stronger/better?

maybe we could compile a list of all the little things like this to help keep our x's purring like the cats that they are. -stevis05

The waffle hose came standard on my 2005 X-Type 3.0.

I'm guessing Jaguar updated the part after the first couple of model years to address the known issue of the breather hose cracking. I'd read somewhere that nearly 1000 parts had been changed on the X-Types between 2002 and mid 2004, in response to initial reliability issues. If that's true, it's going to be impractical for us to try to come up with an exhaustive list in this thread.

SRSLY? It's a vacuum hose. I paid $1.35 at O'Reilly for a (thicker, stronger) piece of coolant hose that will outlast the car ...
