To buy or not to buy? '02 X Type 2.1 petrol
Hello everybody,
My dad asked me to collect some info about one specific car. He currently lives in the UK, and wants to buy it, but doesn't know how things "go" there as he has moved there only 2 months ago.
We're talking about a '02 automatic 2.1 petrol X-Type, with quite some optionals.
The price is somewhere around 2 - 2.2k.
As i've read through this forum, i've understood that:
- X-Types buit before 2003 had some problems with the transmission and clutch.
How can he check the car out, not to have any of these problems?
- The average consumption is around 24 mpg (in town).
- Some of the parts are cheap, because are shared with Mondeo.
- It isn't awd, but that means that it has a lower consumption
- 2.5 and 3.0 are more powerful and pleasent to drive, but how are the taxes there?
Considering all the above, I would kindly want to ask for your opinion and to come up with new info. Thank you in advanced!
Dany.
