Buying advices
Hi everyone,
I really fall in love in the Jag x-type, especially for the shape and their strong and economical diesel engines. Moreover, it looks distinctive.
I'm looking for an estate version, which would be more suitable for me. As i have to carry light stuffs from time to time.
My budget would be £2000 max. according to the adverts we can see, that a correct amount to get a proper x type. Please correct or blame me if i'm wrong
As this car is completely unknow for me, i'd like to know on what areas should i pay a particular attention? what area are the most subject to corrosion? After having studied to the advert, i noted, the common issues are: fuel pump / injectors problems, dual mass fly wheel problems.
Are these problems easy to fix?
i noticed that these issues appear from 100k miles.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Regards,
Patoz

Hi Patoz, You would be looking at the 2.0D as the 2.2D came out later and more expensive!! You are correct on your known faults, plus EGR & idle pulley rattle! easy and cheap fixes. Cill corrosion was a problem on early models hidden under plastic covers! regularly serviced high mileage cars should still be worth a look at. If ride comfort is your thing avoid the Sport trim, a bit harsh! Sovereign or SE have the best toys!
Happy hunting!!
