A/C compressor and dryer
I need a new AC compressor - they also suggest a new dryer. However, I was told that the dryer is hard to change out bc you need to take the fender off etc. Is it necessary to change taht as well or can i get away with just changing the compressor
If any debris or broken parts got into the stream from the compressor failure, they would be trapped in the drier or so goes the conventional wisdom. I totally recommend a new drier in this situation. What do others say?
If you are changing air conditioner compressors, either in the car or on a central system at home, it would a very rare circumstance when a new dryer is not warranted. It's cheap insurance. Think of the dryer as the filter where all the future contamination is stored. Why not get rid of it so the new compressor has the best shot at long life?
