a/c problems

Hi, i have the x type 2.0 diesel sport 03.
Can anyone tell me why the air con pump keeps kicking in even when i put the heating on in the car. Is it the dreaded auto button i keep reading about??

If the climate control is in auto the AC will come on as it acts as an air drier as well as cooling.
So it's normal for it to come on.

Yeah, but you can turn the auto button off so that the a/c won't always kick in!

You can but when it rains the windows will fog up.
